There are 3 ranges of Bowl goige from Robert Sorby, the standard profile, The finger nail profile and the high performance gouges.
The Standard Profile these are a milled from round bar, giving both mass and stability. These tools are ideal for making bowls. They can produce either massive profiling cuts or delicate finishing cuts as necessary, avialable in 5 sizes.
The Fingernail profile grind gives increased flexibility and allows for pull cuts to avoid catching the lathe bed. Greater tip area can be used for heavy profiling cuts and fine delicate shearing cuts. The grind can be easily maintained using the Robert Sorby sharpening system.
High Performace Gouges are Titainium Nitride coated for increased performance and resistance to edge wear. The cutting edge on these tools will out last Robert Sorby's normal tools by a minimum of three fold, they are supplied with a standard grind.
